AI policy
Version 1.0 · Updated 8 October 2026 · NeuroHub Community Ltd
This is a short version for the Horizons hub. The full, official text is the NeuroHub AI Policy, and the detail for our companion is in the Phoenix AI Policy. We have also carried out a Data Protection Impact Assessment for Phoenix: read the DPIA summary.
What you need to know
- The courses are made by people. Course teaching, workbooks and lived experience are written and reviewed by NeuroHub and Autistic Realms. We use AI to help with drafting, editing and building our software, and a person checks and approves everything before it is published.
- You don’t need AI to take a course. Nothing in either course requires you to use AI, and no AI marks your work or decides who can join, what you pay or what support you get.
- No invented experiences. We do not use AI to make up autistic or neurodivergent experiences, quotes, testimonials or reviews.
- Phoenix is optional. The Phoenix helper at the bottom of this page is an AI companion. It is a computer program, not a person, therapist, doctor or crisis service. It only does something when you open it and send a message. You can minimise it or hide it at any time. If you are in danger, call 999 (UK) or 112 (EU).
- Your messages. With Phoenix AI, your message passes through our server to Anthropic’s Claude model so a reply can be written. We do not store or log what you type or the replies, we do not sell personal data, and your messages are not used to train AI. The built-in helper sends nothing anywhere.
- Visits to this site. We count visits to the Phoenix widget as anonymous totals for each website. No cookies and no personal identifier.
- Payments. Course purchases are handled by Stripe. We don’t put card details or payment information into AI tools.
If something goes wrong
Email enquiries@neurohubcommunity.org with “AI” in the subject line and we will look into it and put it right. In Phoenix, press Report under any reply that is wrong, unsafe or upsetting. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
